The effective use of collaboration software can now make an organization run smoother no matter where the project team members are physically located in the world. Today this type of programming includes so much more than just emails and video conferencing.

The use of collaboration software today includes a special program just for your project team to communicate with. This can have it so each project team member has a set of tasks that are highlighted for them to do when they log in. It will also have a list of any tasks that are behind the schedule so the appropriate resources can be assigned to completing it.

There is also a section of the collaboration software that makes it effortless to make available to your colleges your work. This can be images, drawing, spreadsheets and word documents. You team members can then modify them as they see fit and make them available to the team so a discussion can be made on the proposed changes. All of the comments and ideas about not only the changes but amount any other topic also has a place for your team to view and give their impression of.

With the most popular form of viewing today, the video is now possible to share with collaboration software. This can be one you found online or one you just created. When fining a problem in a product facility, a video of just what is wrong and why can make a clearer picture to the rest of a team than a person can in the text form. This alone can save time and money when a problem needs to have a resolution found.

Even with the collaboration software located on your local server, the use of the internet is needed. This allows for all possible team members to communicate at a place and time of their choosing. This allows for greater use of what was considered dead rime before when traveling. The Wi-Fi networks now almost over the nation and soon it will be the world.

The new approach to using collaboration software will help your project team members communicate better and easier than ever before. It is the closes thing to having them all in the same room all the time that can be literally accomplished by electronic means.

Using time management tools is the best way to make the most out of this finite resource. This will allow you to achieve more with the time you have so you and your project team can become a more productive working group.

Many years ago the list of time management tools was severely limited. The most widely used on was a To Do List. This has now been outdated with advanced software that can not only assemble schedules for tasks to be done but send out alerts if a task falls behind schedule. Just like the day planner has now gone digital, so has all of the organizational tools used for directing your time throughout the day and week.

By definition the time management tools should help to reduce the amount of time being wasted by personnel asking questions. A great example of this kind of tool is the dashboard program available to project managers. With a one screen display showing the current statue of the components in their project, a manager will see what tasks are on schedule and which ones might need additional resources.

With a simple glance at their computer screen, the project manager will then use the time management tools to redirect their focus so the deliverable will stay on track to meet its scheduled deadlines. By reducing or eliminating the time required to be informed, the manager can make the most out of a workday.

The integration of the time sheets to the schedule is another effective use of time management tools. By there being a record of who has done what and when, an accurate picture of the execution phase of the project’s lifecycle can be created. With links connecting the tasks completed to the schedule and resources, the correct allocations can be made so the workforce not only knows what to do but how to perform each task.

When a project manager uses the time management tools available to them in an efficient manner, they can make the most of this finite resource. This is the one component of a project that can never be done again or will ever return.

By making use of project planning in teams, a business can reduce the allotment of time that is needed to get a project from the drawing board to the market. This is by incorporating collaboration programming into your network server. It also requires a business to high workers in different regions of the world so the time differential can be taken advantage of.

The first step in having the capabilities of project planning in teams is to have the right type of programs on your service so your project team members can make a meaningful contribution. This is generally done by installing a project management office program on the server. Next you need to have an administered assigned so each team member can be allowed the appropriate access to the programming.

When using project planning in teams it is not necessary to allow all of the team member’s full access to the programming. That could lead to confusion and problems when a team member accesses an area they are not assigned to work on. By being specific in the areas each team member will have access too, the administrator will have more control over the flow of information and the tasks that are assigned to each team member.

The next stage in project planning in teams is to actually hire the appropriate team members by location on the earth. There are 24 times zones around d the world which can maximize the efficiency of your work day. There might be a few hours of overlap from workers in the Far East and Europe and then in America, but not an entire work day. This is unlike hiring workers on the east coast and west coast that will overlap half a day.

This is the approach to project planning in teams many businesses are now taking to get that competitive edge on their rivals. The more efficient a business’s system and process are, the less time it takes to do required tasks. This will bring the deliverable to the market faster than ever before. This is how to capture a larger share of the target audience and increase your revenue stream.

WebOrb Rocks!

With customers around the globe, we’re often asked by our technical followers: “how do we seamlessly integrate our complex Gantt chart with the rest of our application”. The answer is simple. We use “WebOrb”. It’s an application written by “Midnight Coders” and it offers a component for Microsoft .net (which is what our primary platform is based on) and allows the transfer of data between our Gantt/environment and the rest of the application. It works incredibly smoothly, by allowing us to send data from our database through our application and into our Gantt Chart quickly and easily.

Most software components like this are slow and a little buggy. However theirs isn’t. It give a phenomenally reliable and fast throughput and it allows us to provide data to our clients online super quick.

Also, there support is fantastic. So we definitely recommend them.

Today, the Project Management Institute (PMI) awarded Project Manager.com as one of “The World’s Top 5 Up and Coming Products in the Project Management Software Industry” as reported in the PM Network Magazine July 2009 Edition.

Out of thousands of contenders, ProjectManager.com was one of only 5 Companies in the World to receive this award.

The award was provided because of the ease of use of the software, the ability to be able to import and share Microsoft project plans online, as well as the feature that allows you to see the status of projects on your personal dashboard. These 3 features made the product unique enough to stand out for the PMI reviewers above the other applicants.

PMI very infrequently review products in the marketplace. So this award is certainly treated with reverence as the PMI is the authoritative Organization in the industry.

More about PMI

PMI is the fastest growing Project Management Organization in the World, with more than 500,000 members in 200 countries worldwide. They offer training and certification for project managers at all levels as well as professional development, guidelines and standards in the Project Management industry. See PMI.org for more information.
