Project Manager Team Member

Q: What is the best method for a project manager team member to see a task list of their tasks – for all projects together? A: Good question. At the moment, you need to scroll the list of tasks to see those assigned to you. However in the next version which is due to be released in 3 weeks time, you can set a filter so you can only see the tasks assigned to you. I have attached a screenshot of what the filters look like. Then you will be able to do exactly what you want to do, quickly and easily.

Q: Thanks for the info I will look forward to the new release.  Will the filter you describe apply across multiple projects – meaning will it show a task list of all tasks from all projects?  This is my main objective for using this project management template tool is to have a “my project tasks” list available to my team members.  They work on multiple projects and need to have a prioritized list showing all tasks across all the projects that they are involved with.  I would strongly suggest you develop a “my task list” view of some type for project team members to work from.  They would use the view for both task status updates and time entry.
A: Actually, the filter will just show filtered tasks for a single project plan. However we are also building exactly the type of feature you want as well. It will be called “My Workspace” and when you login , each member of your team will see all of the tasks that are assigned to them, across all projects. They will also see all other information in the system relating to them, and they will see tasks that are overdue and tasks that are coming up. This feature will be release in February, if not earlier. Let me know if you have any other great ideas or have any questions would love to hear them.

Q: That sounds wonderful.  Any chance I can get an early preview.  Our hospital is looking to purchase a project portfolio mgmt system at this time and the “my tasklist” is a key selection criteria.  The systems we are considering are Solution Q, ManagePro, and MS Project Server.
A: We’ll have a preview available in January. We have already spec’d it out and are just waiting for the next 2 big releases to be complete, before we build this particular feature. It’s marked as “High Priority” on our list, as a lot of customers have asked for it.
