ProjectManager.com Domain Acquired
Today, Jason Westland announced the acquisition of the ProjectManager.com domain name, from a private individual in the USA.
While the value of the name has not been disclosed, at the time of sale it was reported by GoDaddy.com to be worth $250,000 USD.
“We’ve purchased the name so that we can use it for a new online offering for Project Managers” says Jason Westland, CEO and founder of ProjectManager.com.
The domain was initially registered in July 1996 and as such, is one of the oldest domains in Project Management, according to the ‘Whois’ directory. It served for 10 years as a free job site for Project Managers and teams and will be used in the future for online project management software.
The name has a high net worth, because of its length, the keywords included within the name (for Google search engine optimization) and its age. It is also a generic name and easy to remember.
“The name is the all part of who we are” says Westland. “We’re a group of people that really want to improve how people manage projects. Soon, you’ll be able to use the domain to be able to enter tasks, plan projects, manage resources and track progress. It’s perfect.”
